BOSTON (AFX) -- Biotech stocks slid on Wednesday, with antiviral-drug developer Vertex Pharmaceuticals leading the group southward. The Amex Biotechnology Index fell 1% to close at 632.31, with components Vertex , Gilead Sciences and Enzon Pharmaceuticals being the hardest hit.
